The Shadowfolk Tradition
The Temple of the Spiral Path represents the family of covens and study groups dedicated to practicing the Shadowfolk tradition of Witchcraft. Founded by the Shadowfolk Coven and Teaching Collective, the Temple has grown to include the Strangers' Gate Coven, North Wyldewood Coven, and the Hearthfire Study Group.
Within the Shadowfolk tradition, our connection to the Old Ones is celebrated through the bardic and creative arts, including ritual music, transformative storytelling and devotional poetry. Past rituals have also incorporated maskmaking, garland-weaving, candle carving and mural art. Devotion to the Lord and Lady is expressed by drawing upon the magickal creative abilities inherent in everyone. A strong emphasis on scholarship supports our use of the devotional arts.
Whenever possible, we draw inspiration through critical examination of primary sources and academic commentaries. A special focus is placed on the contributions of the Irish and Norse folkloric traditions to modern Witchcraft. Our work, however, is not limited to these influences; Shadowfolk explores the rich tapestry of the Western Mystery Traditions within a Wiccan framework.
